This Wednesday, I had the joy of attending the Private View of the Plantae 2025 exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London, hosted by the Society of Botanical Artists. I'm thrilled to share that my painting, The Elephant’s Eye—a burr (or burl) oil painting—is currently on display in the show.

This year’s exhibition holds particular significance, as it marks the 40th anniversary of the Society. For four decades, the SBA has championed the delicate, powerful, and often underappreciated beauty of the plant world through art. To be included in this milestone celebration, surrounded by so many skilled and thoughtful botanical artists, is a true honour.
Among the standout highlights of the evening was seeing the work of Marianne Hazelwood, one of the artists from Art and Nature Collective. Marianne’s extraordinary talent was recognised not once, but three times—she took home three awards for her stunning contributions to the exhibition. A hugely well-deserved recognition for someone whose work so elegantly bridges precision and poetry.
My own piece, The Elephant’s Eye, is a reflection on texture, memory, and the quiet yet potent presence of nature in the most unexpected forms. Using the swirling, complex patterns of burr wood, the work explores how the natural world sees and remembers us—mirroring back not just our gaze, but our histories and entanglements.
If you find yourself in London between now and 7th June, I warmly encourage you to visit the Mall Galleries. The exhibition is not only a feast for the eyes, but a gentle reminder of the deep, often healing connection between humans and the plant world. I’m so proud to be part of this moment.
