Surgical Sketch
£200 + P&P
Oil on board
29.7 X 42cm
Completed as part of a drawing brief while at Art School, this piece went on to win one of the drawing prizes in the exhibition at Edinburgh College of Art 2016. My aim with this painting was to give the viewer a fleeting glimpse of surgical theatre, the speed to which I sketched this out reflecting the speed to which things shift and change in the theatre itself, while also capturing as many of the people and objects as possible.

Surgical Still Life
£3500 + P&P
Oil on board
91.5x122x2.5cm
Backed board, no framing necessary.
This painting is particularly close to my heart. This piece was exhibited as part of my degree show at Edinburgh College of Art (2016) and was later selected to be exhibited as part of the Federation of British Artists Futures exhibit at the Mall Galleries in London (2017). After a public vote, this painting won me the prestigious Jackson’s One to Watch prize, and has been published in Artist and Illustrators Magazine. On the painting, two white cards have been left blank, this is deliberate, I hope one day when this painting is sold, to fill in those cards with the journey the painting has made.

These paintings were made in response to my work exploring Robotic Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in producing paintings for they upcoming exhibition at the Surgeons’ Hall Museum. I was quite amazed at the varies textures and colours within the body, only visible in this way through the robotic camera equipment. These particular paintings were developed straight from film using the Da Vinci robot during an operation.

Movement Sketch No.2
£250 + P&P
Oil on board
61 x 91.5 x 2.5cm

As with its larger more developed sibling, Move (2019), this painting focused on minimalism and movement within the anatomical series. Exploring how much detail is needed to convey what is wanted, this painting remains one of my simplest but also one of the most effective.

My Anatomical Family 1
Limited Edition Giclée Prints Available
Each will be numbered, hand signed and a certificate of authenticity sent with it.
Available in
A4 £55/painting or £150 for the set
A3 £65/painting, or £180 for the set.
A passion project for me, this triptych is very close to my heart as it was my first leap into anatomical art, while also featuring some of my family members. These superimposed anatomical oil paintings explore the complexity of what lies beneath the surface but subverts our reality by overlaying the bone structure on top of the faces themselves.
Original paintings also available:

Twelve: Drummers Drumming 2.0
£75 + P&P

Day Twelve, version 2, of the twelve paintings of Christmas.
For those moments of idleness and boredom once the novelty of lockdown and furlough passed.
For all those fingers drumming chairs and twisting in laps, conveying that nervousness that has been an undercurrent throughout the year. Those waiting for test results or to hear from family and friends, that drumming of anticipation.

Seven: Swans Swimming
£75 + P&P
15.24 x 20.32 cm
backed board, no framing necessary
Day seven from the Twelve Paintings of Christmas series:
Bird Flu is back. A number of swans were found dead a couple days before painting this on the Isle of Wight, and it was later confirmed that it was due to bird flu. While bird flu doesn’t pose a threat to us, it is still incredibly sad and hasn’t really been prominent in the news.
there is also something so oddly… beautiful about a swan, even in death. So much so that many Dutch renaissance artists painted them into banquet scenes, landscapes, portraits, still-lifes etc…

Day five from the Twelve Paintings of Christmas series:
This interpretation doesn’t really need too much of an explanation.
The Olympics has only been cancelled a total of six times… ever. The previous times being during the First and Second World Wars… this is the first time it has ever been cancelled for anything other than a war, although debatably this is World War Three!
Pictured is Mr Yoshiro Mori.

Three: French Hens
£75 + P&P
15.24 x 20.32 cm
backed board, no framing necessary
Day three from the Twelve Paintings of Christmas series:
Did you know a female salmon, lobster and crab are all called ‘hens’?
The warmer temperatures and an increase in the oceans’ acidity levels have impacted many different types of sea-life. For example the Porcelain crab seen in my painting, have to use more energy just to survive these harsher environments, meaning less energy put towards growth and reproduction.
Over-fishing, and the increased temperature and CO2 levels will mean these poor hens will not be laying.
